Get ready to unleash your creativity in the vibrant world of two-dimensional art. In this course, you’ll tell your own story through art as you develop skills in drawing, painting, and more! Get inspired as you investigate artworks and how to use the elements of art and principles of design as you create and reflect on your own art. There are supplies you’ll need to purchase for this class, but don’t worry. You have choices in what you can use.

Module One: Draw What You See

-Elements of art and principles of design

-Personal responsibilities when creating works of art

-Create drawings with pencil

-Use a grid to plan drawings

-Analyze an artwork


Module Two: Add Value to Your Drawing

-Create drawings with charcoal, ballpoint pen, Sharpie, or marker

-Draw a simple subject from observation

-Reflect on and discuss artistic process and goals

-Analyze an artwork


Module Three: That's Hue-larious

-Draw with colored drawing materials

-Color theory

-Painting techniques

-Mixed media

-Analyze an artwork


Module Four: It's a Colorful World

-Experiment with mixing paint

-Artistic careers

-Reflect on and discuss artistic process and goals

-Paint a close-up subject

-Analyze an artwork
