Description

Want to make a difference using math? In this course, students will have a chance to do just that. Students will use math strategies to help at the Sports Factory using addition and subtraction, use multiplication to complete the Amazing Math Race, and use fractions to help at the Animal Rescue Center. By the end of this course, students will be comfortable working with fractions, representing data, and solving one-and two-step word problems.

Module One: Place Value

-Read and write numbers from 1 to 1,000

-Compose and decompose four-digit numbers

-Plot and order numbers up to 10,000

-Compare numbers up to 10,000

-Round whole numbers from 0 to 1,000

-Even and odd

Module Two: Add and Subtract Within 10,000

-Addition and subtraction patterns

-Use partial sums to add

-Add multi-digit numbers

-Add three numbers

-Subtract multi-digit numbers

Module Three: Understand Multiplication and Division

-Multiply using equal groups and repeated addition

-Multiply using number lines

-Multiply using arrays

-Division as sharing

-Relate multiplication and division

Module Four: Multiplication Facts

-Multiply by 0 or 1

-Multiply by 2, 3, 4, or 5

-Multiply by 6, 7, 8, or 9

-Multiply by 10,11, or 12

-Multiply by multiples of 10 or 100

Module Five: Division Facts

-Divide with 0 or 1

-Divide by 2, 3, 4, or 5

-Divide by 6, 7, 8, or 9

-Divide by 10

-Divide by 11 or 12

Module Six: Multiplication Properties

-Distributive property

-Associative property

-Commutative property

-Apply properties of multiplication

Module Seven: Represent and Interpret Data

-Tables

-Pictograph

-Bar graphs

-Line plots

-Real-world problems with data
